TURN YOUR T.V. OFF!!

Community for Research and Empowerment (CORE) called out the Indonesians to turn off their televisions on July 20th. Why must we turn our TV off? We cannot separate televisions from our daily life. Its just like a close friend to us. And it seems to be more than friend to us today. Televisions have influenced our way of thinking and doing.
If the programs of televisions are positive, it will be the most effective tool to enlighten us. But they are not. Most televisions programs are not good enough and likely will harm us. Maybe you still remember about a child who was killed by his schoolmate. Before this tragedy happened, these two children acted as they were wrestlers. The children liked to watch wrestling SMACK DOWN is the famous phrase for this sport - on TV. The children beat each other and they didnt realize that it would be so dangerous. One of them was killed, finally.
I am sure you still remember about a mother who killed her children and then killed herself because of poverty. Televisions blew up this news. Tragically, no longer after the news, there was the same suicide for the same reason. It seems that televisions taught us to kill ourselves as the answer for the poverty.
Those are facts about television. We must be worry if our children spend most of their times in front of television. Some parents say that let the children sit to watch TV is safer than let them play outside. It is wrong. Television will persuade the children to imitate what they watch. It is worse because we dont realize that television has influenced us. The two examples I wrote above are the proofs.
Indeed, it is hard to turn off our televisions. But if we dont learn to do this, the terrible things I mentioned above will happen again. We can replace television with books to kill the time. Books have power to enlighten us. Televisions dont.
