Someone questioned the effectiveness of educational budget increasing committed by President Susilo Bambang Yudoyono a few days ago. He said that the increasing of teacher�s salary would only bear idle teachers. The proof of it, he said, was how many teachers who were able to write an article in a mass media. They could be counted with our fingers. The rise of educational budget would not change Indonesian education quality.
This opinion is heard right. But it�s not completely true. Indeed, we have a few teachers who write or want to write an article in a mass media. Yet, it doesn�t reflect the grade of our teachers� quality. Is it fair to place teachers� writing ability as a proof of Indonesian teacher low quality?
There are many teachers who do not know whatsoever about how to operate a computer. But most students who are taught by them are success. How many teachers who are brilliant but they can not result intelligent student even one. What is the advantage of a genius teacher when they can not inspire the students to study?
Teachers must be respected by making a good payment to them. It�s a factor of Indonesian education progress in the future.
